Community Meeting - from Laurie Veltri
One Humanities community meetings that I found particularly significant was the one during which we took a little quiz that had us guess the number of how many people were affected by different things or how much money was involved with certain things. I thought that this was a big eye opener and made us more aware of what was going on in the world and about things that were unfair or things that you knew went on, but didn’t know the extent to which it happened. I think that these things are good for people our age to know so that we can be more aware and maybe do something to make a difference in the world. I think that this is what the humanities is all about: learning about the culture and the world around you so that we can make a difference in some way.
