8th Floor Improv

Last Wednesday, 8th Floor Improv came to our Humanities Scholars weekly meeting. They were great! As I watched the actors, I realized how difficult it must be to come up with amusing material on the spot in front of a large audience. I know I couldn't do it! They were funny and creative and seemed like they were having a great time. It got me thinking about all the great student-run organizations we have here at Ohio State. In addition to 8th Floor Improv, we have a number of acapella groups, religious and political organizations, club sports, committees, and even obscurities like a quidditch team and frisbee club. We are all so lucky to have so many opportunities to get involved here. Being Humanities Scholars is a great start!

  1. This was the second time I have seen the 8th Floor Improv group and believe it or not, it actually was toned down a bit haha. I think they are hilarious and I really enjoyed myself. My favorite part was the 'two-man show' at the end of the performance. Those guys were really funny and they are really talented! I am excited to see them again this weekend!

  2. It was also my second time seeing Eight Floor Improv and I greatly enjoyed it. I would agree that it was toned down quite a bit. The cat lady portion was hilarious at the beginning, but my favorite part was probably the last part of the show. I was really glad I got to go, and I enjoyed attending with my friends from Humanities.

  3. I enjoyed eighth floor improv too! It was a good break from studying for midterms and it was nice to see fellow OSU students performing and performing well!

  4. I definitely appreciated the comedy of this improv group. I realize how difficult it must be to conjure up a steady, coherent flow of material on the spot in front of an anticipating audience. I admire how well they handle this pressure and believe they produced a pretty hilarious performance, especially the final act of the night that involved the trial scene. It's pretty amazing how much the actors can build off a single suggested word or phrase and establish a witty, sensible plot.
