Mentor Family Feud!!!!!!
On Wednesday night, my roommates and I attended the Mentor Family Feud. It was a great time because we got to spend time with out mentors and had a lot of fun. I was surprised with the large turn out; we were able to form 13 teams! It was neat to take part in the game because we were answering our own questions that had been asked of us on the sign in sheets for the community meetings. I was really surprised with some of the answers to the questions, (did you know that Ron and Harry are two of the top five hated characters in Harry Potter?). Ben did an excellent job at putting the whole show together and it was a great chance to catch up with friends and mentors alike as well as to blow off some steam during mid terms. My team didn't fair too well, but we still had fun, although I was kind of extremely bummed out that I didn't win a Humanities Scholars slinky like the other cool kids. I think the slinky would have made my entire college experience 100x better, but I am getting over the initial disappointment and hope that my loss does not have long term repercussions on my self esteem. :)

Family feud was a fantastic experience. It was really fun that the teams got into it and actually were competitive. The popcorn and soda added to the fun. It was actually a great bonding experience with my mentors who I had only hung out with during the Scavenger Hunt. Working as a team and building those relationships was a great plus to a fun night. In the middle of the week it was refreshing to take a break to relax. My team came in 5th place so we got the prizes which was cool but in the end playing the game was a prize enough. Overall great night and will definitely look to more fun nights with my Humanities Scholars friends!
ReplyDeleteI went to the mentor event as well, though I was a little late because of classes. One of our mentors is back from France, so we got to meet her. I didn’t realize at first where the questions and answers were coming from (besides knowing that they were related to the Humanities Scholars). I assumed it was a survey that had been taken in one of the Wednesday night meetings I missed, but I guess I was wrong about that. I apparently just wasn’t paying enough attention to the questions on the sign in sheet during the Humanities class. Anyway, it was very interesting seeing the comparison between what we in the group had written, what we expected the most people would actually put, and then what the actual answers are. Wonder if that says anything about Humanities scholars versus other people. Hmm…
ReplyDeleteFamily Feud was really, really fun! I finally got to meet my mentors for the first time this year (YES!), and enjoyed the popcorn for sure. The most interesting part of the evening was realizing that the survey questions were from the meetings from Autumn quarter and STILL not remembering what we had put. Other than that, the questions were fun and the night was a great way to unstress from the math midterm I had just finished; it was really nice to just relax and have a good time.
ReplyDeleteThis quarter's mentor game is the first time that all members in our mentor group gather together include Renee, who has been to France last quarter. I appreciate the game because it is the most appropriate game for people to get acquainted with others. We were not only answering questions. Every time we came up with our answers, group members would say"oh,really" or"me,too" and then we started talking about it.It is so nice we did find interests in common by playing the game. Love it~
ReplyDeleteI went to Family Feud as well! It was really fun and really great to get to talk to our mentors more. We realized they were really cool and laid back! Randomly, our group ended up winning and we were totally surprised. Zeens and I now have found many uses for the Humanities Scholars folder! Our roommates were actually jealous-- it's a nice folder! Even if we weren't victorious, I still would have enjoyed the evening immensely! Props to Ben for pulling it off. It was a great time!

ReplyDeleteI went to the family feud reluctantly, not expecting it to be nearly as much fun as it was. I enjoyed hanging out with one of my mentors and my roommates, and we had fun thinking up our answers. I really enjoyed the slinky I got, slinkies (?) are just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it is blasphemous that Hannah's team won.
I agree, the Family Feud night was really fun! Although I was the only member of my room who went to the event, I had a blast joining up with another group and answering the questions that were originally asked of us earlier in the year. I was also shocked about some of the answers, like the Harry Potter question. I also agree how the event was put together fairly well by Ben and the others.
