Presidential Election Party

For the very first time this year, I voted in a presidential election!  Not normally being a political guru, the election buzz was something new to me.  The fact that I could now voice my opinion through a vote made it a lot more important to me.  Unlike any other election, I made sure to watch the debates, read newspaper articles, and even attend the PSL presidential election watch party at the Union.  Complete with very good cookies and a map coloring page, it was fun to be in the middle of the hype while the race unfolded.  People would cheer, "boo," and participate in trivia games as states were won by the candidates.  Going to watch Obama on the oval and making sure I truly understood my side on each topic made it the most memorable election that I have experienced yet.

  1. The presidential watch party was an awesome experience. I think the coolest part of it all was the idea that people from all around campus and from all sorts of different political backgrounds were able to come together and share in a night of fun and suspense as to who would win. I learned quite a few things from all the trivia questions and the jam packed tavern also offered some excellent cookies to keep me hyped for the majority of the night!

  2. I also went to the presidential party. I was surprised by the shear number of people who showed up to see who our next president would be. Regardless of whom they were rooting for, students all packed into woody's to watch the results on the big screen. Every time a state was won people from the winning party would cheer and clap while those rooting for the other side would shake their heads in disappointment. Overall the night was a blast and the cookies were great!
