Short North Gallery Hop

Yesterday I enjoyed my first gallery hop in the Short North. Whether it was work or another engagement, something always kept me from going in previous quarters and last night I realized how much I have been missing. I went with a great group of friends and we started our night by eating a great meal at La Fogata. The atmosphere - with music blaring from inside the restaurant, people on the street shouting and laughing as they walked from gallery to gallery, and the candles flickering on each table as night fell - really lent a sense of comfort and relaxtion; a great way to end a hectic week. We also found out that our waiter used to attend OSU and lived on South Campus, so we joked and chatted with him throughout the meal. After leaving La Fogata, our group began wandering down the street, looking into some galleries and entering others. I never knew there was so much artwork on display and I thoroughly enjoyed being exposed to it. My favorite stop of the night had to be Global Gallery, a cute little shop with all sorts of Fair Trade items to promote equality among producers - especially females - throughout the world. Almost everything is handmade, from jewelry to statues. I will definitely be returning for another gallery hop in the near future, that's for sure!

  1. I enjoyed the works of art I saw during my Gallery Hopping. One of the works that stood out to me was the crayon artwork. When looking at it closely, I saw that the picture was created by literally inserting crayons. You couldn't really tell what the picture was until you took a few steps back. It was really amazing and I was impressed at how an artist can create a picture with just crayons. I also saw adorable wooden animal statues in another art gallery. There were also many extremely expensive glass artworks which were colorful and intricate. Some galleries sold products like handmade earrings, articles of clothing such as scarves and hats, and even little finger puppets for little kids. I am looking forward to the next gallery hop!
