Treat the Hungry

Tonight was a successful Halloween! I participated in Treat the Hungry and collected a ton of canned goods and non-perishable items for the Mid-Ohio food bank. A big group of us car-pooled to a nice neighborhood in Hilliard, and were generously greeted by many residents more than willing to contribute. In only about an hour and a half, my group alone collected several backpack loads. Treat the Hungry was a blast and it felt really good to be trick-or-treating for a good cause. I am definitely participating next year, and I recommend it to all Humanities Scholars!

  1. I attended treat the hungry, too. Before we arrived our destination, i did not know it is kind of trick or treat. So i just wore casual clothes, which still makes me regret now. Anyway, treat the hungry is a meaningful activity. We could not only be volunteering but also build friendship with group members, enjoy the Hallowing off campus and get the candies!! It brings me a lot of things that I could not imagine before. It is my first Hallowing as well as my trick or treat.I should acknowledge that the cans were so heavy that my shoulders could hardly support them. But whatever, treat the hungry is a great experience. Love it...><

  2. I also participated in Treat for the Hungry and found the experience extremely rewarding! It is always great to be reminded that the world is full of good people, and we came in contact with several that night. Most of the homeowners already had cans set out for us, ready to do their part for Columbus! It is awesome that the people gave us candy even though we are so old. I also loved seeing all the little kids around the neighborhood dressed up. Overall, it was a great Halloween!
