Treat the Hungry

On Halloween, we went to a neighborhood to ask for non-perishable food items for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Some people dressed up in costumes, others went in street clothes. While collecting, mostly canned goods, I didn't feel like we had accumulated very much food, but when we got back to Haverfield, there was a huge pile of goods. We ended up collecting more food than last year! I had a good time while doing this, and we even ended up getting some candy as well!

  1. This is one of the Humanities Events that I look forward to the most every year! It feels so good to be a part of something that benefits so many people in need. I was impressed by the number of people who came this year! In having more people, it seems we collected a lot more and had more fun doing it! I know it may be difficult, but it would be more beneficial if we were to be more separated next year. It was difficult to get not repeat houses and we could get a lot more if we were more spread out! Other than that, it was a great event and I can't wait until next year!

  2. I love Treat the Hunger so much!! It combines traditional Halloween activity, treat or trick, with volunteer activity of collecting food for people in need.It was a really meaningful event that I will plan to participate evey year. Besides, it was a fun time that we dress in Halloween costumes, work in groups and also get candies from some people!!

  3. Treat the Hungry was a great event this year! Not that it wasn't just as awesome last year, but I was so excited to have so many people attend. It saved me a LOT of walking in the cold! Though the weather was not ideal, it was a great chance to get away from campus and to help those in need. I thank those people who willingly donated to us and the other Humanities Scholars that made it such a fun time!

  4. I was unable to help out with Treat the Hungry last year, so I was really excited when I found out I could make it this time around. I had so much fun hanging out with some of my fellow Humanities Scholars, and it was great getting to meet so many new people as we knocked on doors. The residents were so friendly, and someone even invited us to go through their "haunted house" with all of the neighbors and their children. Even though we were asking for the canned goods, everyone insisted we take candy as well, and one man even insisted we take some bottled water. My only complaint was that the night passed by far too quickly.

  5. Treat the Hungry was cold but a lot of fun. I was unable to go last year but was excited to go this year. So many people showed up to help and it was great to see all the people willing to donate a few items. I had a great time but time passed by quickly. I can't wait to collect more food next year than we did this year. Good work
