Humanities Mentor Scavenger Hunt

The scavenger hunt was a very fun and entertaining way to spend some time in the afternoon. It was also a great way for the mentees to get to know their mentors. One of the most entertaining parts of the exercise was the site seeing, getting to see buildings and parts of campus I have not seen yet. My only complaint is that there was not a map with the instruction sheet. So that we would not have run around not knowing exactly where we were going and how to get there. But overall I think that the event was a success and I look forward to the next mentor/mentee event.

  1. The scavenger hunt was a really unique way to walk around the campus and site see. It was a nice break from homework and because of the great weather it was a nice walk as well. This was a fun event and I look forward to the next one.

  2. I had a great time at the scavenger hunt. The weather was beautiful making it all the more fun. I got to meet my mentors, both really nice people. After talking to one of my mentors I realized she is Korean and I am majoring in Korean so we were able to chat back in forth in Korean. It was very fun! Then as we were searching for the puzzle pieces, it showed me parts of campus I had yet to explore. For example, the fire place in the RPAC and the awesome view from the Thompson Library were new sights to me. It was overall a good time.

  4. The scavenger hunt was a good way to experience the campus while interacting with our mentor for the first time. I thought it was nice that our own mentor could give us some of her own experiences with the school. By working with our roommates we were able to have fun and just hang out. At first I felt like that the event would not be very fun, but I was mistaken. We were able to see every key point on campus while getting to know each other a bit more. I can't wait for more activities to present themselves in the future.

  5. This event was a fun way to find buildings and sights in Ohio State. Our mentors recommended us places to eat and study. If we didn't have this scavenger hunt, I probably wouldn't know that there is a whispering wall or that there is a specific spot where you can hear yourself echo but no one else can. Afterwards, we talked to our mentors and they advised us the do's and don'ts of campus life. I had a good time.

  6. The Mentor/Mentee Scavenger Hunt really was a lot of fun and I feel like I learned a lot about the campus as a result of it. My mentor Leotie was really nice and helped us figure out all the clues. She really was serious about trying to get the most points! Because of the scavenger hunt I learned where a lot of the important buildings on campus are, such as Enarson Hall and University Hall. I can't believe that I missed them before.

Overall, this hunt was helpful to me and my roommates not just for learning where building were, but also giving us a chance to ask questions of Leotie about life on campus and whatnot. It was a pretty cool experience and I can't wait until the next activity.

  7. The Humanities Scavenger Hunt was a very fun way to explore campus, meet our mentors, and to work together to achieve a common goal. Luckily, unlike many of our other days on campus, there was not a rain cloud in sight. My roommates and I got to spend some quality time together and slowly get to know one of our mentors, Ashley. Although the puzzle pieces we were sent out to find clearly created the "Humanities Scholars" logo, I thought it was a clever idea to use the puzzle piece theme. We got to explore and navigate our way through most of campus; this was a great way of growing more comfortable with the vast terrain that makes up Ohio State. The clues also provided me with some information about our destinations that I had not known previously. Overall, the scavenger hunt was a success and the popsicles at the end also added a nice touch.
